Yes, I was amazed to see TCC at #11 on the nomination list of Tony Morgan‘s most innovative churches. Nevermind, you can probably guess who the two nominators where so far, but hey, it looks really cool! Every year Outreach publishes a list of the most innovative churches in America. And typically, this list reads like a who’s who list of mega-churches. However, it begs the question, is innovation something that comes from a large number of people and resources, or are the true innovators out there the newer churches who have to be innovative because they don’t yet have the advantages of a larger well-established church? In other words: challenges and limits breed innovation.
Now, I’m not saying those guys have it easy, but some of the most creative churches I know are still under 1000 people in weekend attendance. If you agree with me and want to support TCC as one of the nation’s most innovative churches, you can log into Squidoo and give us your nomination (just click on the up arrow beside our name). Just for fun, of course.
Okay, I nominated TCC. Where’s my campaign button? 🙂
Great question about whether innovation comes from a large number of people & resources or not. I tend to think of innovation simply as the pursuit of something new & different in the hopes of arriving at a better result.
TCC is most definitely innovative!
