It’s so easy for us to fall into a rut as we plan worship services. In a lot churches, you can look at your watch when you sleep in and know exactly what they’re doing, even though you’re not there. Last Sunday, we actually mixed things up. We opened the service with the message and then followed with the worship set. This allowed us to really get into the right frame of mind as we responded to God in worship. And it provided a more relaxed time of focused attention. I imagine it was a surprise to people who rolled in late on Sunday. This time, they got to hear the music instead of the preaching. It’s great to be at a church where there is real freedom to follow God’s Spirit as He leads us to do new things.
