This Sunday, over 100 people at TCC made a commitment to AMP UP their spiritual life by spending some time once a week studying the Bible on their own! To watch the message online, go to theconnectionchurch.tv

Are you depending on a sermon a week, or maybe a small group Bible study for your own growth? There is absolutely nothing else that will help you grow faster than learning to be a self-feeder. I want to invite you to join us in this by taking around 30 minutes, one time a week to study God’s word.

I’ve put together this 52-Week Bible Study Plan to help you get started. Just download it and print it off for your own use.

Here are a few thoughts that will help you on your journey:

  • Remember to pray for wisdom and understanding. Only God can give you the heart and mind to understand His Word.

  • Read the selected Bible passage in an easy to understand translation of the Bible. I suggest the New Living Translation or the New International Version. You can use YouVersion to read and record your insights right there. If you do that, be sure to friend colephillips.

  • Remember to record your thoughts in a journal of some kind, whether on paper or electronically. This might even be the basis for a blog or at least a post each week.

  • Meditate on what you are reading by asking questions. Here are a few that will help you get started:

  • What is the main subject of this passage?
  • Who is this passage addressed to?
  • Who is speaking?
  • What is the topic, subject, or issue they are they dealing with?
  • What is the key verse? (This would be a good verse to memorize)
  • What does this passage teach me about God?
  • Apply what you are learning. You can use the S-P-A-C-E-P-E-T-S acrostic to help you apply the passage to your own life:

Is there a…

Sin to confess?

Promise to claim?

Attitude to change?

Command to obey?

Example to follow?

Prayer to pray?

Error to avoid?

Truth to believe?

Something to praise God for?

Everyone who commits to this challenge will experience God doing amazing things in their lives as we walk through the Bible this year. I can’t wait to see what God is going to do! And I look forward to hearing how God is using His Word to change our lives. Let me know how you’re doing, the challenges you’re facing, what you’re learning, and what God is doing in your life.
