I’m slowly working on watching through the 3 hours of the Country Music Awards and caught Keith Urban doing some song that wasn’t too good, but noticed that he’s playing with the most amazing band. Some of my musical heroes: Chris Rodriguez on guitar, Mark Hill on bass, and Chris McHugh on drums. Which begs the question: Why are they playing with Keith Urban? They were totally under-playing and had none of the magic on a completely meaningless and whatever-is-opposite-of-moving song. It was cool to see them though, even if they weren’t rocking the house. I guess it’s a living.

Then around 11pm, my youngest daughter, Bethanie, comes down the stairs in a sleepwalking daze and I get to hold her while watching entertainer of the year Kenny Chesney perform "Don’t Blink." Of course, me being the sentimental guy that I am start tearing up. We’ll do that song during our next family series. I love my family and cherish the time I have with them, though I don’t always remember to live in the moment. My granddad used to say, "Just turn around two or three times and your kids’ll be grown." I’ve only got about a turn and a half left and I want to make the most of it.

"These are evil times, so make every minute count." Ephesians 5:16 (CEV)
