According to Reuters, 11 prisoners cut through the fence and escaped while attending their church services. Have you ever been there? Believe me, I have. I’ve sat through services where I wondered if there was any way I could escape under the pews, or maybe play dead so I could get out of there. It makes me wonder how many people in churches around the world wish they could do the same thing?
The sad thing is, the Gospel of Jesus Christ should be the most exciting thing that we can be a part of! Not something that people are trying to stay away from. I’d hope that if it were a Connection Church service these guys were attending, they’d stick around ’til the end to see what God was going to do next.
Isaiah 42:6-7 says, “I, the Lord, have called you to demonstrate my righteousness.
I will take you by the hand and guard you, and you will be a light to guide the nations.
You will free the captives from prison, releasing those who sit in dark dungeons."
Prisoners should be freed when they attend a church service. They should be set free from their sin, from their addictions, and from their fears. That’s the kind of gatherings we want to have. TCC is a place that we want to see people breaking into, not out of. You can’t keep people away from a place where God’s Spirit is at work changing lives!
