We just got back in from our trip to the Texas Bay Area where we got a behind-the-scenes look at the new Bay Area Fellowship campus. It’s truly unbelievable what God has done there in just 10 years. As usual, these guys were the most incredible hosts, opening their doors to our team to every area that it takes to pull off a weekend service. We especially thank Pastor John Atkinson for personally showing us around. There are not many churches in the country we could visit where one of the pastor’s would give us the valuable hours before a service. But John has a real heart for new growing churches and it shows. Almost as good is the fact that he’s adding me to the blogroll on his site 🙂 (Just kidding, I can only wish)
Now that they’ve moved into their new facility, they aren’t resting on their accomplishments. They’re continuing to dream the dream God has for them. I have no doubt they’ll do more than they ever thought possible with this new campus as a tool for the Kingdom.
One of the things John said really hit home with us:
This all started in an apartment with 5 people, and look at what it is today. Don’t look at this new facility and say, this could never happen to us, but see it as an example of what could be.
We haven’t really had the chance to debrief, but from what I’ve heard, the trip really showed us the potential of what God can do through TCC if we stay focused on the vision He has given us. It’s amazing to have such a team of people who gave their weekend to make the journey down to Corpus. I love our team so much and believe that God is using them and He can do anything when we surrender ourselves to Him, offering what little we have, so He can do something so big!
I also want to extend the invitation to any church planters to bring their team to see what’s happening at TCC. We stand on the shoulders of those who’ve blazed the trail before us, like BAF, and we want to pass that along to you.
