This week we're praying every day for a specific missionary that we support around the world. Today, we're remembering Roger & Phongsri Walker who are serving at the Tree of Life Orphanage in Thailand. Roger is connected to The Connection Church through his sister Maggie who serves our church through the Fresh Start ministry, the office team and leads our prayer blog.

Roger’s dream of an orphanage began
in July 1989. While standing on a
small rice field belonging his wife, Phongsri, Roger saw a vision
of a building
with lots of children running in and out. He felt overwhelmed with
feelings of
warmth and love. The dream for a home for orphaned children in Buriram,
Thailand began. In August 1990, Phongsri went to Buriram to begin
the
construction of the home. Over the next seven years, while living
in Al Ain,
the Walkers continued construction as funds were available.

On November
22, 1998, the haven for orphans in Thailand opened. Tree of Life
Christian Children's Center and Orphanage had begun.
Tree of Life endeavors to provide a loving home, spiritual encouragement,
as
well as education opportunities for all the children in residence.

All
residents have living relatives that are either unwilling or
unable to provide care for
them, which prevents them from being legally adopted. Therefore,
most children who come to Tree of Life, regardless of age, will
most likely continue residence through University. The
orphanage thus becomes a permanent home for its residents.
