I just had an awesome conversation with Chris Bealand about how he regularly prays for me and our staff. I can’t overstate how much it means to me to have people praying for me. I believe this is one of the driving forces behind God’s blessing on TCC. The very first thing we did when we got to Kyle was to gather a team of people to pray for us.

Here’s what Chris told me he prays:

  • That I will have no doubt when I’m communicating God’s truth. It’s very easy for the voice of the enemy to plant doubt in a pastor’s mind when it comes to boldly proclaiming the Word of God. Just the other week, I showed up on Sunday morning and began to wonder if I had prepared the right message for that day.
  • That I will not be so task-oriented that I neglect my walk with God. Believe it or not, this is a real tendency for someone who’s driven like me. Sometimes I can get so busy doing God’s work, that I miss nurturing my relationship with God.
  • That I will be hidden behind the cross. That basically means that this whole thing is about Jesus and not me or my agenda. My prayer is that people will see Jesus in me.

Perry has an awesome post about when to pray for your pastor. Bottom line: PRAY FOR ME!
