I was reading this in the Message paraphrase from Philippians 3:15-19 – So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it. Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal. There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them. I’ve warned you of them many times; sadly, I’m having to do it again. All they want is easy street. They hate Christ’s Cross. But easy street is a dead-end street.
Lately, we’ve been talking about selling out everything for Jesus. He wants nothing less than total commitment. There’s no doubt that we’re headed in the right direction. I just finished looking at some of the numbers from the last sixth months. Since January 1, 37 people have surrendered their lives to Christ! That’s 1.3 people per week! Technically, that means that someone has come to Christ every Sunday this year! 23 people have taken the plunge to go public with their faith through believer’s baptism. And 53 people have made the Membership Commitment to join The Connection Church family.
It’s not easy to stay on mission, but it’s a lot of fun. I thrive on changed lives. It’s what gets me up in the morning and motivates me through the day. I love being a part of what God’s doing here. And even if I wasn’t the pastor of this church, there’s no where else I’d want to be than right here with this awesome bunch of believers. We’re just now starting to see how big the vision is God has for us. And trust me, it’s "something so BIG!" Remember those words, because they’ll mean a lot to us in the very near future.
