Let me tell you about a couple of highlights from my day:

  • So many great things happen every week at TCC that go unspoken, and while there are too many to speak of, I want to thank all of the awesome Connectors who go above and beyond to create an environment for life change every week. Every person who served today is a hero in my book. THANK YOU!!!
  • During setup, I tore my cool new grunge guitar shirt and I felt so beaten down. (When I finally confessed to Pam this afternoon, she fixed it. Confession is good for the soul.)
  • Since I wasn’t speaking today, I got to catch a little more of the service than usual. As I sat there, I thought: This is THE MOST AWESOME CHURCH IN THE WORLD!!!! I love The Connection Church and what happens every week. It’s mind-blowing!
  • Zak did a fantastic job today talking about what prayer is really all about. I am so proud of him. He has a great ability to communicate and connect.
  • I got to close out the service by leading "Made to Worship." This is about the third time in our history that I got to sing something. If I could choose my job, it would be to be a rock star! Wait a minute, what am I saying? First I would pastor TCC, then be a rock star. But closing the service today gave me the chance to express my musical side a little. And playing with our band is like the time I opened for PFR (that really happened one time in Nashville, but you probably don’t know who they are.)
  • We had a guest today, our friend Alex Alexander. He used to work at Fellowship Church in Grapevine and now he’s been at Lake Hills Church in Austin for several years and done just about every ministry there is to do there. He’s been such an encouragement to me over the last few years, it was great to have him check us out. I can’t wait to get to sit down with him at Austin Java to find out what his impression was.
  • We gave away our keyboardist Ron John’s instrumental piano cd of "Music to Pray By" to everybody this morning. For some reason, it’s easier to pray with the soothing sounds of Ron’s keys in the background.
  • Oh yeah! We were back up today with lots of new faces, and a few old ones too. I love it!
  • I got to teach the newest version of our membership class today and it flows so much better and helps our new members nail down their next steps as they join. We had 100% of the class make the membership commitment today!
  • I have gotten up too early over the past few days and I’m pretty tired. Getting up early again in the morning to catch a flight with Zak to "the OC" for a pastor’s conference this week. I love going, but I hate leaving my family for the week. That’s always a hard thing. Pray for me as I go and I’ll let you know what’s happening along the way.
