The Connection Church is different. Rather than growing from the inside-out, we've been intentional about growing from the outside-in. I saw that this area was filled with tons of people, more every day, who God loves and wants to connect with. In order to see as much life-change take place as possible, we knew it was going to take some "strategery" and something so BIG!

The very first way we connected with the people in our community was through a BIG event called The Big Hunt. And legend has it that over 800 people showed up to that first event. We've continued that by adding a second BIG annual event: Trunk or Treat. The idea is simple, provide a safe and fun place for families to come, have a blast, and make a connection.

This year, we took it to a HNL (whole 'notha level) by moving to Cabela's. And once again, God came through and our Connectors worked hard, provided candy and games and everything needed to make it happen. I'm so proud of our peeps who sacrificed time with their own family, and gave generously out of love for God, our church and our community.

On top of that, in the middle of last week, my step-mother passed away and I was asked to lead the funeral. I ended up having to catch a plane just minutes before Trunk Or Treat and I missed the whole event. But thanks to our awesome team, I wasn't even missed. I know that it was the best we've ever had.

The follow-up for the event will be in maintaining the connections we made. It blows me away how so many people who go through our membership class made their first connection at one of our community events. So, to everyone who was a part of Trunk Or Treat 2008: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! YOU ROCK
