This weekend, the Austin area experienced the biggest Texas Flood we’ve had in the last 3 years, even causing the ACL Festival to shut down on Sunday for the first time in its history! I can count on both hands the number of times it’s rained on Sunday morning over the last few years, so whenever it rains like that, it’s bound to effect what happens at The Connection Church. After waking up to the sounds of thunder and the downpour of rain, I tried getting to Buda three different ways and ended up heading south toward San Marcos in order to go north on 35. It took about 45 minutes to get there. Lauren, our Office Manager, even admitted to going around some barriers to get there. I say all this to tell you, Connectors showed up in spite of all the obstacles they faced and we had a great day in spite of all the flooding.

The TCC Worship Team included a part of Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years in one of the songs and they completely killed (that’s good) Justin Timberlake’s Mirrors. With Aaron Simcik singing lead with his bass around his shoulders, I thought he was giving us a bit of Peter Cetera (Chicago) too.

We talked about what to do if you find that you’ve married a vampire, that is, if your spouse sucks the life out of you. If you’re in that kind of marriage, remember, God’s vision for your marriage is much bigger than yours. He wants to use your marriage to make you more like Jesus! So focus on God’s promises instead of your spouse’s problems. To find out more, listen to the message here.

We also had a blast this past Saturday serving single moms and wives of deployed soldiers with free oil changes at Christian Brothers. Thanks to all the Connectors who made a difference in lives by being God’s hands and feet and meeting some very real practical and spiritual needs!!! I love being a part of a church that is all about finding a need and meeting it in Jesus’ name!
