When Pam suggested we name our firstborn Makenzie, I wasn't too excited about it. Do you remember Mackenzie Phillips from One Day at a Time? She's was the older sister and had a pretty rough life until recently. But Pam said no one would associate our daughter with her. I think once you attach a name to a child, they just take that on, and I can't imagine my Makenzie as anything else.
I did get to choose her middle name: Carisse which is a loose translation of the Bible word in Greek for Grace. I think that describes her even better.
