We had a great Super Bowl Sunday. Here are a couple of thoughts:
NEW FACES: We’ve had an influx of new faces since the start of the year. Several people told me they were checking us out after seeing an ad in the newspaper, which was kind of unusual. You never know what kinds of marketing are going to catch someone’s attention. It’s kind of like the people who call randomly about broken windshields. They know that on any given day, they’ll call people who need to get their windshield fixed. When we cast a broad net, there are always people that God is preparing to be receptive to an invitation to come to a celebration service. I’m not sure if the series on parenting is the draw, but we had a great kickoff to this series for everyone who is a parent, who has a parent, or who knows a parent.
FAMILIAR FACES: We also saw a lot of familiar faces come back to see us this Sunday. It was kind of reunion-like. It’s important to leave the doors open for people who leave for whatever reason. Don’t burn those bridges because you never know who will walk back across them and through the doors. People go through cycles in life and have layers of reasons when they say they’re leaving. Sometimes they’re not even totally sure themselves. So, bottom line, it was cool to see some people worship with us again. Once a connector, always a connector. Personally, I can’t imagine being anywhere else!
GREAT VIBE: The services have a had a great vibe the past couple of weeks. The music has been right in the pocket. I think these are kind of template-like services that set the standard for what needs to happen every week. Like Mercury Morris said, "You want to go undefeated? You’ve got to win EVERY game!" In other words, every Sunday is Super Bowl at TCC. We’ve got to make every play count.
