For my first 16 years of ministry, I felt a sort of holy discontent. Don’t get me wrong, I was a part of some good churches with great people where the Bible was being taught and good things were happening. But I couldn’t help but think there was something more.
That something more turned out to be the place God led me and my family in 2004 when He opened the door for a new kind of church to start in Hays County called The Connection Church. At that time, we couldn’t have imagined the ways lives would be changed over the first 10 years. All we knew was that we were being called to create a place where anyone was welcome to explore their faith in a judgment free zone. And the crazy thing that happened is that so many people have found that life is better, fuller, richer, and deeper with Jesus.
The first ten years have been incredible! So many people have joined us on this journey to make it possible, many of those are still walking with us today. Just this year alone, 105 people have gone public with their faith through baptism! Yes, it hasn’t been without challenges and heartaches, but for the most part it’s been a blast!
This week, we had a big birthday bash to celebrate 10 years of impact. It was a chance say thanks to God for His hand on us and His work through us. I want to say a huge THANKS! to the many committed people, especially our outstanding staff, that give everything they have to see our God-given vision become a reality!
Here’s the best part: I truly believe we’re just getting started. The first decade has been a time to lay a foundation for what is happening next. Make no mistake: The best is still in front of us! I hope you will be a part of the next 10 years. They’re going to be phenomenal!!!
