No_helicopter
We’ve got bad news on the helicopter drop for The Big Hunt this Saturday. We just got a call from the City of Kyle informing us that we are "not allowed" to have a helicopter anywhere near Steeplechase Park. For them, it’s just too much of a "risk" and since apparently they can say "no," that’s what they’re doing. I am extremely disappointed with this decision, because we’ve taken every precaution necessary to make sure that it is 100% safe. We have our own liability insurance as well to cover any issues (of which none would arise.) And all the promotional wheels were rolling before we knew that there would be any snags with the city.

Of course, our intention was not to create an issue with the city. We simply wanted to provide an exciting community event that families can enjoy. The Big Hunt is still going to be the biggest Easter Egg Hunt in the state of Texas with well over 50,000 eggs and lots of prize eggs as well. We’ve got inflatable games, hot dogs and drinks. And as usual, everything’s free! It will just be a helicopter free event.

  1. Bummer! To bad we don’t know anybody who owns a hot air balloon that could just drift over the park… I am sure it will still be awesome.

  2. If we can get some more prisoners to escape this Saturday and then hitch a ride on the search helicopter which incidently safely flew over steeplechase park this past weekend, then all would be good.

  3. How about maybe having the Easter Bunny sky dive into Steeplechase Park. Can the city stop that?

Also, did anybody try to explain to the city that this was not going to be anything like the WKRP Live Turkey drop?

  4. I think The Connection Church are doing a “AWESOME” job sponsoring the BIG hunt. I can’t wait to see my kids faces. FUN is still FUN with or without the helicopter. Thank you so much for allowing us to come and have some fun…
