In Breaking Bad, Walter White changed his name to Heisenberg to reflect his more sinister persona. Have you noticed that names can become your label or your brand for others to define or describe you, and they can even become the way you see yourself. In the Bible, God changed people’s names to reflect who He saw them as. So Jacob became Israel and Saul became Paul. Whatever label has been attached to you, you can know that because of Jesus, God sees you as His own priceless creation. And owning your new identity will lead you to break the bad habits in your life and begin to live out the brand new life God has for you.

We are experiencing lots of the “brand new” at The Connection Church these days!

Our elementary aged kids entered their room this week to find brand new chairs for KonnectionKidz. This allowed them to have tons more fun and learn even more about God’s great plan for their lives.

We kicked off our #bbhPhotoChallenge this week where someone is going to win a $50 Amazon gift card. Just instagram, tweet, or Facebook a pic of you breaking your bad habit, add the hashtag #bbhPhotoChallenge and @connectionchurchtx and post it for your chance to win. The winner will be announced this weekend at our Celebration Services.

We heard a powerful personal story from Frankie and Stefanie Mendoza about how their commitment to honor God with the full tithe has resulted in more financial peace in their family. As a bonus, we were able to celebrate with Stefanie for the new job offer she received within the week of her commitment! (That’s not to say that whenever you make that commitment, you’ll get a new job offer, but we can sure be thankful when those opportunities happen!) The biggest thing that happened in all 3 services on Sunday was the baptism celebration. The measure of the life of a church is in those who are stepping across the line of faith to trust Jesus. (CLICK TO TWEETBaptism is the way we go public with that decision to say to the world, “I have been changed!” You can find out more or sign up for our next baptism here.

To prepare us for the message, the band rocked Unspoken’s Who You Are. If you missed this week’s message on the 5 Steps to Change, you can check it out right here. You can also find the Connection Points and the Talk It Out Group Notes right there.
