In 1994, 800,000 people were slaughtered in Rwanda. Tens of 1000s of women were gang-raped. They were intentionally infected with AIDS in order to ensure that the killing would continue even after the genocide. These mothers must daily decide whether to feed their children to keep them from starving or risk transferring the virus to them.

TCC is adopting one of these widows in Rwanda named Mukeshimana Domina. She’s 37 years old with 5 school-aged children, ages 5, 11, 13, 15, and 17. We’ll be providing the money for these kids to go to school this year. Right now, they’re living in her neighbor’s “kitchen” (a three-sided lean-to outside of the house.) We’re sending the funds for all the materials to build a house for her family. Her local church will be doing the actual building.

We’ll be taking some pictures on Sunday to be placed in her new house. Also, encourage your Connection Group or family (this would be a great family project to include the kids in) to write a letter to her that will translated and read to Mukeshimana. We need to have those by Monday, the 28th. Feel free to drop your letter by or send it by email. And let’s pray together that God will be at work in her family’s life in a major way.

We’ll be receiving some video of her soon and I look forward to sharing that with you. It’s awesome to be a part of a church family that is making such a big impact, not only here in our region, but around the world.
