Mothers Day 2007

We had an awesome day at TCC. The were tons (okay around 25) children dedicated by their parents to God. Dedication is just a way for parents to go public with their desire to place God at the center of their family and raise their kids God’s way. One thing that was different about this for us this year was that several families also had older kids who had never had this done because they have not been a connected part of a church family before, at least not one where this was given as an opportunity.

And on a bittersweet note (parting is such sweet sorrow), our smokin’ lead guitarist Russ Willis graduated from UT and is moving back home to Houston to work at a bank. He’ll be playing now at Second Baptist Houston. We’ll miss him, big time. He has the chops to play anything and he has a huge heart for God. We do know that God has someone lined up for us. He’s provided excellent musicians from day one. So, I’m sure someone will be rockin’ it out next week. At the close of the last service, we had a commissioning time for Russ.

This is our second commissioning this month, we’re we pray for people as they leave us. Two weeks ago was the Zgarba’s last Sunday and we had their Connection Group pray for them. It’s hard to lose people who have invested so much of their time and lives for the vision. But we know it’s part of being a healthy church. Healthy churches are always bringing people in, and they’re sending people out to take what they’ve received and pass it on to wherever God leads them. This expands TCC’s influence around the country. It’s a hard thing to do, but we have to know that God will never send someone from us without bringing in other’s to fill in the gaps.
